Sleeping Like A Baby
Who came up with such a silly expression? Anyone who has had a baby knows that they do not exactly sleep "peacefully" In fact, watching LD sleep is akin to watching a pride fight only there isn't another person in the crib with her. Hands, legs, head, and the constant motion of them disturbs her more often than I care to think about. I have become accustomed to life in constant sleep deprivation. It is amazing what can be accomplished even with the need to have tooth picks propping open my eyelids. Bottles can be made, clothes folded, and prepartions carried out for our move with minimal sleep. Sign me up for the Army...I can function on no sleep! By the end of the day, however, try as I can I am propped on the sofa trying to watch my favorite show, "Grey's Anatomy", and through snores I think Dc. MacDreamy may have visited me in my dreams. For now, I'm sleeping like a baby and just trying to breathe before LD begins her next round of fighting with her appendages.

Can't Help But Smile
It is amazing how one memory of my kids can bring a smile to my face and clear the cobwebs from my mind. Today they allowed that miracle to occur at the exact moment that I needed it the most.
Spring comes slowly to New England, but when it does arrive each day is filled with the oohs and ahhs that remind you of why everyone flocks to Newport each year. The daffodils that spring up around the area in droves provide one chorus of spring that resounds within your soul and steadily increases its tune until you make the journey to stop and pause in front of their joyous blooms. Today I needed that moment unlike no other so when Ry stepped through the door he was quickly sent upstairs to change into play clothes and we headed out for a walk around Newport. First stop was to recreate the memory of HS playing in last year's spectacular display of daffodils at the end of our street. Although LD and HS have no idea how much joy they brought to me as HS picked a daffodil just for LD and presented it to her with care in his eyes. I will hold the memory forever. A memory that will come back to my mind whenever I need that smile that I just can't seem to find on my own. Kids. Thank God he gave me mine.
