A New Tune

Labor Day 2014
Seems like just a moment ago I was sitting here typing about what I was going to do with my darlins during the summer break.   I couldn't wait to have them home and hear the sounds that fill the house only as kids can.

Today as I type the house is silent.

The dog is snoring loudly after a great walk around the neighborhood and the cicadas are striking up a song heralding the final days of summer.

Although for us, our songs now revolve around the music created by the alarm clock, the engine starting in the morning, and the garage door closing as we head off for the morning.

We are back to the school routine,
back into the clutches of after school activities,
and homework.

Summer seems like it was a brief moment in time. Our summer was amazing.  We spent a great deal of family time and took in the sites around our house.  We tried to have an equal share of camps and downtime.  In many ways, not having something on the schedule was exhilarating.  I already miss the carefree days of summer.  I think that's why when a school year ends, I'm biting at the bit to treasure summer moments.  They don't stay around long and become yet another happy summer memory.

Farewell summer 2014.
See you next year!
