Magical Worlds

Do you remember when you were little and toys were your world? It seemed like an eternity before you would be able to add to that oh so special collection and then even more adventures with the toys would begin. I vividly recall my favorite toys. I can see them, remember the actions that I would painstakingly go through to set up the perfect Barbie house, hear the accents that each would have and then look forward to the next day of creating.

Around here the days are not different from those of my childhood. HS and LD spend most of their time enjoying the world of their toys. HS is totally into creating his magical worlds with his toys. Every morning you wake up to the sounds of a happy little 6 year old lost in his creative world. One day you may be in outer space locating a new alien planet and the next you are in medieval times with knights and princesses trying to avoid the fierce dragon looming over the mountain (or the sofa for you non-creative types).

LD, being only 4 1/2 months, has just begun her exploratory years. She finds that starring into each of their every intricate detail helps in the enjoyment of the toy. The other day we added to her possible world and set up her excersaucer. Now, if there was something like this for adults I would certainly be losing the final LD weight for sure! She adores it and as she plays you can see the wheels are turning. How do you get that to make a sound? What is that button for? How does the frog taste? Childhood and the beauty of living in a magical world where everything is possible. Thankfully, through our children we can see those magical worlds once again brought to life.

Crazy Days

Ok, I have to admit it. I must have hit the third trimester chaos and now find myself lost in the chaos of life with four month old LD. I don't think my life has been any more hectic than now. I know...I know...the popular saying of "this too shall pass" but seriously, could two kids be any different than mine? What worked for HS as an infant has no bearing whatsoever on our LD. HS has even found himself saying, "mommy, I don't think I did that..." With a smile on my face and praying silently for patience in dealing with a polar opposite baby than what I had been used to I sweetly smile down at my new darling and say, "no, sweetie, you did other things."
Don't get me wrong, I love our newest addition, I obviously thrive on chaos or why else would I be such a supporter of a nomadic life? I think what keeps me going is music, memories of other times, and the promise of even better moments spent with my fantastic 3. Today, being a day that LD spent more time crying than cooing and dealing with life back in the "real Navy" as HH is nowhere to be found since he has been sent off for training, I am relying on the fact that crazy days are what keeps your sould rejuvinated. Put on your big girl panties and deal.
