you could help someone other than yourself?
you could gather as many cans as you could to help others?
your Cub Scout Pack was the best at helping others in need?
you were the one to deliver them?
What would you say? What would you do? How would you feel?
I know I've written about HS's Cub Scout Pack before in previous posts. It is hard not to since we live and breathe scouting the majority of our hours not spent doing homework or practicing Karate. We are addicted. There really should be a program for those like us. Something along the lines of AA, but geared towards helping us process all the good things that we see our Pack participate in during a Scout year.
So far, we've watched the boys head on board the Mighty Mo to clean and polish spaces, assist in making cards for veteran's, gathered healthy snacks for the Wounded Warriors, and recently, gather canned goods for the Hawaii Foodbank. The pack donated 125 cans to "Canstruction" a fun event that spotlighted several local businesses creative prowless of using cans to create sculptures. All the cans donated will benefit those in our community. Thankfully, the outreach that they provided allowed our Scouts to grow and even LD was able to gleam what a smile, a hug, and a big "Mahalo" will do for one's self esteem.
So, what if...

you weren't looking for payment for doing something good?
you didn't need a toy as a motivator to be polite?
you were part of something much larger than yourself?
What would you say? What would you do? How would you be changed?

Dear One,
We are so proud of all of you (even your littlest component) for all that you do to serve others.
If you ask me, scouting has to be one of the best organizations around.
Bless all of you for taking the lead and participating with such gusto in this marvelous outreach!
Go Scouts!
Grandma
