Just Ducky

Today we headed to our favorite spot to while a way some hours and just go ducky for a while.

LD and I love to head to the Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens located on the windward side of Oahu near Kaneohe.  In Hawaiian, Ho'omaluhia translates to "make a place of peace and tranquility."  It is here that you can definitely get away from it all and let the call of the ducks and the wide gaping mouths of hungry fish take you away.  As you can see from the above picture, LD was super excited and ran to the sign post guiding us in the right direction.

If we've learned anything from being stationed here for almost three years and coming to this spot many times, you never, ever, ever want to come empty handed.  Old bread is a must.  The ducks will come find you.  Signs are not necessary to figuring out where you should be.  The army ducks make sure you know.

The lake is full of beautiful fish.  LD could stand for hours peering down into the glow of orange speckled koi that hang out eager for more bread.   It is indeed a special spot to come for a little tranquility, bask in the beauty of the Ko'olau Mountains, and enjoy the laughter and charm of a three year old, "Snow White".
